Chris Karatsoreos was born and raised in the City of Toronto. It’s not certain if he was born an entrepreneur, but it is known that he couldn’t wait to get out of school to open his own business. At the age of sixteen, he started a business specializing in corporate incentives and by the time he was twenty-seven, he was the successful owner/operator of a chain of bars and restaurants.
We’re not sure if there is such a thing as an entrepreneurial gene, but if there is, we’re confident that Chris Karatsoreos has it. We do know that Chris’ entrepreneurial drive is so strong that it never diminishes, even when tested by serious circumstances.
In June 2005, his world changed dramatically when he fell victim to a rare virus called neurosarcoidosis. He was paralyzed from the waist down. Years of extensive hospital care followed and he still participates in physiotherapy and rehabilitation on a daily basis.
As a person in a wheel chair, he became conscious of the fact that it was not easy to obtain information about accessibility. There were few resources available and getting answers to important questions was difficult.
It was at this juncture that strong entrepreneurial drive came face-to-face with the shortage of information. Chris set out to create an online community to assist people with disabilities; an online community designed to help people with disabilities get the most out of life.
